Determined To Run

I was determined to run four miles yesterday.  I set my alarm for the early hours of the morning when the sun is not up yet and it’s cold outside.  It took me almost an hour to fall asleep and then I woke up and….I was sick.  My throat felt like someone had shoved a golf ball down it.  It was sore and my lymph nodes were swollen (hello nurse Lauren assessing myself).  My body was saying no way are you getting up right now and running four miles.  So I reset my alarm for an hour later and went back to sleep.  I woke up not feeling any better with a long day ahead of me.  I switched my coffee for some tea and prayed this was just a one day thing.  I have no time to be sick!

Fast forward through the morning and my lecture/lab and by 1 pm I was feeling a bit better.  I was in high spirits because I had a coffee date with my best friends.  I spent my afternoon break enjoying a latte and the company of some of my favorite people.

After that latte, I was feeling very caffeinated! So much so that I could not sit still in class.  I knew the only way to burn off that energy was to complete my run! Yay! It was my fastest four miles and I actually felt infinitely better afterwards.

It was actually closer to under 36 minutes but by the time I slowed down and took a screen shot, I added on a few seconds.

Long runs really clear out my lungs and help my soul. I’m so happy I decided to bit the bullet and put on my running shoes.  It helped I got to watch the sun set- so beautiful!

Following my long run, I refueled with a delicious dinner. Gluten-free pasta with my grilled lemon chicken, organic red sauce and vegan mozzarella cheese. Seriously, so good.

This morning I am off to work very early, but I will be back to check in later!
